Richard A. Schlener, 79, of Macungie, died Nov. 1, 2013, in his home. He was the husband of the late Jackie (Seehausen) Schlener. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Andrew and Ida (Liebezeit) Schlener.

He was in the Korean and Vietnam Wars and retired after 20 years of service at the rank of Gunnery Sgt. in the U.S. Marine Corps.

He is survived by sons, John A. and his wife Georgette Gruver, of Macungie, Thomas E., of Allentown; daughter, Susan D., of Quakertown; brothers, Bill, Frank, Robert and Gene; sister, Hilda Weiser. He was predeceased by a son, Richard C.; grandson, Justin Z.; brother, Charles; sisters, Margaret Amptman, Dorothy Dex, and Wilma Legath.

Services are private. Arrangements were made by the Trexler Funeral Home, Allentown.
