North Catasauqua Tree Lighting is Sunday at the park
The borough's tree lighting ceremony, hosted by the North Catasauqua Recreation Committee, is set for 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 1. Come and visit with Santa Claus, who will arrive on a borough fire truck and see a display of gingerbread houses, created by Catasauqua Area School District students. The borough recreation committee will serve refreshments at this free community event.

The Catasauqua Thrift Shop, on Bridge Street in Catasauqua, will have a half-price sale on all items Friday, Nov. 29, until Saturday, Dec. 7. Proceeds from sales are returned to the community through contributions that support youth and adult programs and services.

The third annual Homemade Holiday Sale will take place Dec. 5 and 6, 1 to 8 p.m., and Dec. 7, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at 1333 Fourth St., North Catasauqua. Many area crafters and bakers are contributing their talents, offering holiday gifts and baked goods, including ornaments, holiday arrangements, baskets, stained glass, jewelry, crocheted items and handpainted objects. Proceeds benefit the Mrs. Nothstein's Helping Hands Fund.

The Suburban North Family YMCA is sponsoring the 5th Annual Tree of Lights on Monday, Dec. 9, a community-wide fundraising project, beginning at 6 p.m. Proceeds will benefit youth programs at the Y. Music will be performed by the YMCA pre-kindergarten students and refreshments will be served following the lighting of the tree. For information, call 610-264-5221.

Mark your calendar for the borough's Luminaria Night Dec. 14, beginning at 5 p.m. On this evening, residents and business owners are invited to place luminaria on their properties.
The We Sing Chorus is selling luminaria kits as a chorus fundraiser. For information, contact the chorus at WeSing@aol. com.
The chorus is looking for volunteers to help distribute luminary bags and light the candles around the park and other borough locations on Luminaria Night between 2 and 4 p.m., and to light the candles, between 4 and 5 p.m. Call 610-264-1504 to volunteer.

Residents, organizations or businesses are invited to sponsor a lighted holiday snowflake ornament to be displayed along North Catasauqua streets during the holiday season. A limited number of ornaments is available.
