The Coplay Recreation and Welfare Association will hold its annual tree lighting Dec. 5 at the Coplay municipal building, Fourth and Center streets.

The program, which begins at 6:30 p.m., includes Christmas carols and holiday songs. A local youngster will flip the switch to light the tree.

Santa will arrive via fire truck to greet children with presents.

The program then moves indoors to the auditorium, decorated for the Christmas holiday with poinsettias lining the stage. The Whitehall High School Chorale will perform. Following the free concert, hot chocolate and doughnuts will be served.

The American Club of Coplay last week made 5,000 hoagies for organizational fundraising activities.

The hoagie shop on the club's grounds will shut down in December for the holiday season and resume operations with its army of volunteers in January.
