Brunell chosen in Upper Mac

Garnering an unofficial 68 percent of the vote, according to Lehigh County Voter Registration, Republican Jim Brunell will be the new member on Upper Macungie Township Board of Supervisors.

Brunell received an unofficial 1,824 votes out of the total 2,677 cast for a six-year term on the board.

Democrat Chris Casey garnered an unofficial 853 votes, 32 percent of the total. Casey emailed The Press Wednesday morning with comment on the election.

"Jim Brunell will be an outstanding supervisor," Casey said. "I urge all residents to stand behind Jim and support him as he attempts to bring reality to the board.

"I congratulate him on his win, which I feel was a win for the entire community.Supervisor Ed Earley ran a write-in campaign to return to his seat on the board. No information was available from Lehigh County Voter Registration on the number of votes he received.
