John H. Angstadt

John H. Angstadt, 90, formerly of Emmaus, died Oct. 31, 2013, in Lehigh Valley Hospital. He was the husband of Diane F. (Diefenderfer) Angstadt. Born in Gauff's Hill, he was the son of the late Ralph E. and Mary A. (Scholl) Angstadt.

He attended Penn State University and graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering from Lehigh University. He worked as a mechanical engineer for Bethlehem Steel for over 40 years.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Emmaus.

He was a former member of the Emmaus Lion's Club, the Engineers Club of the Lehigh Valley, was a board member of Northwood Cemetery and volunteered for many organizations during his retirement.

He honorably served his country in the Army during World War II, earning a Purple Heart.

He is survived by his wife; son, Michael J. and his wife Jan, of LaGrange, Ga.; daughter, Susan J. Angstadt-Sullivan, of Quakertown; brother, Richard A., of Tucson, Ariz.; sister, Barbara R. Kinkle, of Delaware; five grandchildren, Cori and Steven Cambre, Cailin and Scottie Allen, Greta and Patrick Cork, Joanna, of Georgia and Emily Sullivan, of Quakertown.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Nov. 9 in St. John's Lutheran Church, 501 Chestnut St., Emmaus.
