Elwood E. George, 77, of Hanover Township, died Oct. 25, 2013, at Lehigh Valley Hospital–Muhlenberg, Bethlehem. He was the husband of Darlene (Berg) George for 53 years.

Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Grant and Beatrice (Pierce) George.

He graduated from barber school in 1961.

He owned Woody's Barbershop, Allentown, before retiring in 2004.

He was a member of the Hanover Township Zoning Board for many years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a sister, Gladys and her husband Albert Hilbert of Port Charlotte, Fla.; 14 nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; and two caregivers, Elisa Diaz and Mayra Encarcion.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Leroy and Delnor; a sister, Marietta Bickel; and two nephews.

A calling hour is scheduled for 9-11 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. Oct. 31, at Schisler Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Ave., Northampton, 18067.

Contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or to the church memorial fund, both c/o the funeral home.
