Walter F. Marciniak
Walter F. "Whitey" Marciniak, 68, of Macungie, died peacefully Oct. 27, 2013, with loved ones at his bedside. He was married to Betsy Marciniak for 46 years. He was born in Old Forge.
He was a high school football All-American and lettered in baseball, basketball and football, where he earned his nickname after Whitey Ford.
He attended the University of Maryland on a full football scholarship and later played semi-pro for the Washington Redskins and the Philadelphia Eagles.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in business and worked as a senior sales executive for Xerox Corporation for 35 years before retiring.
He was an incredible cook and famous for his parmesan potatoes.
A longtime member of St. Thomas More Church, he enjoyed playing golf, especially at Wedgewood Golf Course and had many buddies throughout the area. He loved watching all of his children and grandchildren play their sporting events and was equally proud of his kids' academic and athletic accomplishments.
He is survived by his wife; daughters, Kimberly and her husband Mike, of Maryville, Tenn., Michelle and her partner, Beth Brooke, of Bethlehem; son, Steve and his wife, Mindy, of Allentown; grandchildren, Miranda, Cody, Mitchell, Peyton, Meredith; sisters, Jean Turowski, of Old Forge and Ann Marie and her husband John, of Montoursville; his little dog, Benji.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Mass of Christian Burial 11:30 a.m. Nov. 1 in St. Thomas More R.C. Church, 1040 Flexer Ave., Allentown. The family will receive friends 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31 in the Schantz Funeral Home, 250 Main St., Emmaus and 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. Nov. 1 in the church. Arrangements are under the direction and care of the James Funeral Home, Bethlehem.
