Kids fall to 0-6

The ongoing struggles of the Northampton football team continued last week, as the K-Kids fell to Emmaus 49-28. Northampton spotted the Hornets a 28-point first quarter before falling behind 35-0 in the first half.

The loss dropped Northampton to 0-6 on the season as they head into a road battle against Easton (5-1) this Friday night at Cottingham Stadium.

It's not the way head coach Jeff Brosky wanted this season to unfold, but it's the reality of the situation, as the Kids are still searching for their first win heading into mid-October.

"They jumped on us quick and it's tough to come back and recover from something that," said Brosky of Emmaus. "The bright spot for us was that we out scored them in the second half. We used that to build some momentum going forward."

Nick Cook threw a pair of TD's to Derrick Wruble and Jared Bauer and Blake Boehm each added a rushing score to make things respectable for the Kids, as they outscored Emmaus 21-7 in the second half.

But the reality of being the only winless program in the Lehigh Valley Conference so far is tough to swallow for anyone.

Brosky does feel that the seniors on the team have kept their chins up so far, as they continue to search for their first victory.

"I still think our guys are staying positive and keeping their heads up," he said. "Losing is tough for anybody and it's not a pleasant experience for anyone. Hopefully, some good things can happen for us moving forward."

That will probably not happen this week at Easton, as the Rovers are one of the best teams in the district and difficult to beat at their historic confines, but staying competitive and making plays is what the Kids need to give them a chance.

"We need to get a big play or a first score to really give us a chance," Brosky said. "Something positive has to happen for us. We've added some wrinkles offensively, but the bottom line is that we need to win a game to makes everyone feel better."
