Nevin R. Schantz, 94, of Allentown, died Sept. 17, 2013, in Lehigh Valley Hospice. He was the husband of the late Betty J. (Guinther) Schantz. Born in Shimersville, he was the son of the late George H. and Annie H. (Roeder) Schantz.
He was a member of St. Paul's U.C.C. of Trexlertown.
He was a millwright for over 16 years for the Carpenters and Joiners of America Union. Prior he worked for Bethlehem Steel and he also farmed.
He was a former officer at the Macungie Grange.
He enjoyed playing cards, gardening, woodworking and attending senior citizens meetings.
He is survived by sons, N. Richard and his wife Lucille, of Macungie, James P. and his wife Gloria, of Breinigsville; daughters, Carol and her husband Donald G. Heller, of Orefield, Sally A. and her husband Robert Ande, of Allentown; companion, June Brownlee, of Allentown; six grandchildren; two step-granddaughters; two great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Lester.
