Whitehall Township will hold its annual fall parade Sunday, Oct. 6.

This year's theme is "Halloween." The parade will begin in West Catasauqua, move into Fullerton and end at Jefferson Park and Playground.

The reviewing stand will be located at the lot of the former Hilbert's Pharmacy on Third Street.

Until three years ago, the fall parade was staged at the K-Mart parking lot and traveled onto Schadt Avenue, ending at the Whitehall-Coplay School District campus.

Township officials said parade plans continue. Further information on organizations and bands participating in the parade will be announced later.

Camp Whitehall ended Aug. 16, followed by the shutdown of the three township swimming pools.

The youth martial arts program has now begun a new season.

Also, building renovations at the Mulligan Golf Range and minigolf facility on Range Road continue. Mulligan's, under a lease arrangement with the township, did not open this year. The township, which owns the land and buildings, have not yet shared its plans for the facility in 2014.

A roof replacement contract for the Schadt Avenue recreation building was awarded to Spotts Brothers. The work will include repairs to the basketball courts and the paving of the parking lot. The Hokendauqua Park restroom improvement plans were completed. Work is also continuing on the restoration of a rail car in the Whitehall Parkway.

Township employees installed replacement parts for an Egypt Park play structure and at the Stiles play structure, both of which incurred damage.

The township's recreation department also has worked to implement an approval process from the three municipalities, Coplay, North Whitehall and Whitehall, for the Ironton Rail-Trail to host events from outside organizations on the trail.
