Lower Nazareth Twp man dies after falling in lake

A 51-years-old Lower Nazareth Township man died Sept. 2 after he was found unresponsive in the lake at Grouse Hall Fish and Game, 3335 Levans Road, North Whitehall Township.

Douglas Bachman, of 4967 Hanoverville Road, fell into the lake prior to 3:19 p.m., Lehigh County Coroner Scott Grim said.

Bachman was pronounced dead at 4:12 p.m. the same day at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death, Grim said.

Schnecksville Fire Chief Ron Stahley said firefighters were called to the fish and game club around 3:15 p.m.

"Once we arrived and determined approximately where he was, we made several surface dives," Stahley told The Press on Tuesday. "On the fifth or sixth attempt we located him and brought him to the surface and placed him in the ambulance.

"You have to remember, the water is very dark and it use to be a quarry."
