Mary Mertens Petruccelli, 73, of Bethlehem, lost her courageous battle with cancer on Aug. 10, 2013, at Lehigh Valley Health Network. Born in New York City, she was a daughter of Alfred and Catherine Mertens of Allentown. She was the wife of Dr. Francis Petruccelli for 53 years.

She was a graduate of Central Catholic HS and Sacred Heart School of Nursing.

She is survived by three children, Donna Frances of Bethlehem, with whom she resided; Catherine Marie and her husband Michael Bryan of Falls Church, Va., and Lisa Cecilia of Philadelphia; two grandchildren, Peter and Ann Marie Bryan; a brother, John Mertens; two godsons, Fred Mertens and Dr. Joseph Zaladonis Jr.; a goddaughter, Marge Volpe; nieces; and nephews.

Contributions may be made to the Notre Dame of Bethlehem Catholic Church, 1861 Catasauqua Road, Bethlehem, 18018, and/or Lehigh Valley Health Network Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Surgery.
