Lieutenant Paul Gaspich from The Fogelsville State Police made a presentation about crime and prevention at the commissioners meeting Aug. 1. Gaspich provided statistics to various forms of criminal activity.
Of special interest is the theft from motor vehicles where although there may appear to be items of little value in the vehicle, a garage door opener can provide access to your home. Gaspich said to consider loose change, sunglasses and boxes of cigarettes as items of value to a criminal. Unlocked vehicles can provide criminals with a crime of opportunity.
Bill Thomas, president, Lower Macungie Township Seniors, wrote a letter of thanks to the township for allowing seniors to use the community center during the heat wave. Brandon Quigney, from Heritage Drive, Alburtis, has 20 pine trees touching his house that are planted on township property. After review from the commissioners, it was decided to remove the trees and replace them with arborvitae.
