The actor's life: The Allentown Public Theatre (APT) is presenting a children's show, "Pinocchio," 6 p.m. Aug. 16, 23; 2 p.m. Aug. 17, 24; and 2 p.m. Aug. 18, 25, St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 417 N. Seventh St., Allentown. Sam Kuglen adapted the well-known story by Carlo Collodi written in 1883 into a one-hour, one-act play. Gepetto, a poor woodcarver, creates a puppet, Pinocchio (Lana Brucker), above, who comes to life. His nose grows every time he tells a lie. Pinocchio dreams of becoming a real boy. Through many misadventures, he learns about the consequences of his actions. Marcie Schlener, who directs"Pinocchio," directed "James and the Giant Peach" for Firebird Theatre on 7th Street. The "Pinocchio" cast includes Stephen Aguirre (Gepetto) and Jen Kurtz, Vivian Rose and Kate Hughes. Children 12 and under are admitted free. Adult admission is by donation. Information: 888-895-5645.
