John H. Long, 83, of Catasauqua, died July 22, 2013, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of the late Pauline "Polly" K. (Stimmel) Long.
Born in Easton, he was a son of the late Oliver and Florence Long.
He was a 1948 graduate of Wilson High School.
He was in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict and was aboard the U.S.S. New Jersey.
He was a route salesman and then a merchandiser for Tastykake for 40 years. He was "Johnny Long," the voice of Dorney Park and Nazareth Speedways for more than 30 years.
He is survived by two sons, Ted and his wife Valerie, of Bethlehem, and Todd and his significant other Margaret Saunders, of Catasauqua; two daughters, April and her husband Robert Brown of Perkasie and Karen Nardone of Northfield, N.J.; a sister, Gertie Moore of Beaumont, Texas; a brother, Oliver of Catasauqua; and four grandchildren, Andrew and his wife Jessica Brown of Lansdale, Matthew Brown of Montclair, N.J., and Noah and Taylor Nardone, of Northfield, N.J.
He was predeceased by a sister, Betty; and a brother, Bill.
