Coplay police

Burglary reported

Coplay Police on Monday said they are investigating a burglary reported on Sunday at the American Club, North Third and Hall streets.

Police were informed the burglary took place at 11:36 p.m. Police said an unknown man forced his way into the club and then pried open the vending machines.

An undetermined amount of cash was taken, police said.

Woman receives harassing texts and calls

A woman told police on Sunday she received 17 harassing texts and phone calls from an ex-boyfriend who resides in Whitehall Township.

Police said they contacted the individual and instructed the man to discontinue contact with the woman.

Retail theft

Police on Saturday were summoned to Giant Food, Cherry and Chestnut streets, for a report of retail theft.

Donna Roman, 60, of Northampton, was cited with retail theft. The woman was alleged to have $251 worth of items in her possession she did not pay for.

Vehicle struck

Holly Hewko, of Coplay, reported to police on July 26 her 2006 Nissan was struck while parked in the unit block of North Third Street.

The operator of the vehicle which hit Hewko's vehicle did not stop. Police said they found damage to the left side of Hewko's automobile.

Disturbance at post office

Coplay police responded to a disturbance at the U.S. Post Office on Chestnut Street. The postal clerk said a man entered the post office and complained of his mail being wet.

Police said they are continuing the investigation into the incident and are in the process of contacting the man. Police said the man was alleged to have called the postal clerk derogatory names and used profanity.

On leaving, police said the man threw a piece of mail at the clerk.

Report of loud music

A complaint of loud music involving vulgar lyrics brought police on July 24 to a residence in the 100 block of Chestnut Street.

Police said on arrival the music had been turned down.
