Anna Doddy
Anna M. (Blihar) Doddy, 91, of Salisbury Township, died July 21, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospice. She was the wife of the late Vincent Doddy who died in 2006. They were married for 60 years. Born in Bethlehem, she was the daughter of Anna Sniscak and Louis Blihar.
She attended Ss. Cyril & Methodius grade school, Broughal Middle School and Liberty High School.
She was a seamstress for the former Laros Co.
She was a member of Incarnation Church, Bethlehem.
She was a member of the National Sokols Gymnastic Union, Auxiliary member of the U.S. Veterans of the Lehigh Valley, the Hellertown American Legion and the Military Order of the Purple Heart.
She was very patriotic and served as president of the Bethlehem chapter of the American Gold Star Mothers for 30 years. She attended many civic functions, parades and ceremonies in the Lehigh Valley addressing audiences with her speeches, invocations and convocations.
She did volunteer work for the Ss. Cyril & Methodius Parish, the Allentown State Hospital and the Veteran's Clinic in Allentown.
She was an avid bowler, gymnast in her youth and Philadelphia Eagles fan.
She is survived by a son, Vincent; sister, Catherine Yencho; sister-in-law, Rose; 20 nieces and nephews; 32 great-nieces and nephews; 11 great-great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Victor in 1968, a casualty of the Vietnam War; sisters, Elizabeth Horninger and Irene Silbert.
Viewing hours will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem. A Mass of Christian burial will follow 11 a.m. Thursday at Incarnation of Our Lord Church, 617 Pierce St., Bethlehem.
