Allan G. Stead, 91, formerly of Emmaus, died July 10, 2013, in Palm Harbor, Fla. He was the husband of Ruth "Judy" (Matthews) Stead. Born in Easton, he was the son of the late Harold W. and Ruth C.M. (Wagner) Stead.

He served in the Navy during World War II and graduated from Muhlenberg College with the delayed Class of 1944.

He owned and operated Shelter-All of Eastern PA until his retirement in 1978.

He golfed for many years at Brookside Country Club and was a member of the Emmaus Rotary Club.

His example of unconditional love in caring for his wife after the onset of dementia is a legacy that will live on in his family. He would remind us to cherish each moment with the people we love.

He is survived by his wife; children, Jeffrey, M.D. of Shepherdstown, W. Va., Pamela Jones of Macungie, Susan, and Ann Sterner, both of Clearwater, Fla.; grandchildren, Max and Sally Forstater, Jeffrey Sterner, and David, Daniel and Emily Jones; seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, June; grandson, Brett.
