Wayne S. Dech, 86, of Bethlehem and formerly of Whitehall, died July 7, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital and Health Network, Bethlehem. He was the husband of the late Myrl E. (Prong) Dech.
Born in Hellertown, he was a son of the late Wayne S. Sr. and Alice (Keifer) Dech.
He was a private first class in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was last employed by Tapeworks Inc., Bethlehem, as a lathe operator for 10 years before retiring in 2003. Before that, he worked for Mack Trucks Inc., Macungie, as a paint supervisor for nine years. He was the store manager at Kline's Auto Supply, Allentown, for 25 years.
He was a former assistant midgets coach with the Fullerton Athletic Association for many years. He was a life member of the Fulleton Fire Company and a member of the American Legion Post 367, Fullerton.
He is survived by two sons, James and his wife Veronica of Bethlehem and Martin of Seneca, N.Y.; a brother, Gerald Dech of Allentown; five grandchildren; and one great- grandson.
Graveside service with Military Honors will be held at 10 a.m. July 11 at Schoenersville Cemetery, Grove Road, Allentown.
