Aloysius John Tauber, 93, of Whitehall, died June 29, 2013, in Holy Family Manor, Bethlehem, after a short illness. He was the husband of the late Anna (Pramik) Tauber for 64 years.

Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late John and Johanna (Hodl) Tauber.

He was a 1937 graduate of Allentown Central Catholic High School.

He served in Africa and Italy with the 1127 Quartermaster Company, 41st Service Group, U.S. Army Air Force.

He was a plumber for Fred Held, Fred P. Long and Michael J. Long. He was the first person to be issued a journeyman plumber's license by Whitehall Township.

He was a member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary R.C. Church, Whitehall, where he sang in the choir and was a member of the Holy Name Society. He met two popes, Pius XII and John Paul II.

He was a member of St. Aloysius Young Men's Society, Fullerton Fire Company and the American Legion, Fullerton post.

He is survived by five sons, John J. of Whitehall, Joseph M. and his wife Kathryn Orndorff-Tauber of Harrison City, The Rev. Jerome A. of Hellertown, Matthew E. of Port Jefferson Station, N.Y. Eugene P. of Whitehall; a son-in-law, John J. Yurish of Northampton; three grandchildren, Ann Marie and her husband Timothy Surovy of Whitehall and Racheal A. and Joanna M. Tauber of Harrison City; a great-grandson, Joseph J. Surovy; a brother, Daniel and his wife Helen of Matthews, N.C.; four in-laws, Margaret McHugh of Indian Land, S.C., John Pramik of Allentown, Rose Tauber of Whitehall and William and his wife Patricia Pramik of Allentown; nieces; and nephews.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Annette Marie Yurish; four brothers, Robert A. (Ganser) Tauber and his wife Helen, Herbert J. and his wife Sylvia, Ferdinand F., and Paul D. and his wife Betty; and a sister, Emma and her husband Walter Schwind.
