Hokendauqua column

The Hokendauqua Park and Playground Association will hold a tree dedication 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, at the park.

The ceremony will honor several people who were instrumental in 1958 in acquiring seven acres of land for the park.

A plaque will honor Joe Humenik, Ed Hartman, Clare Alesick, Dick Bowman, Althea Geiger, Flora Geissinger, Henry Gerhard and Mary Kalamar.

The First Presbyterian Church of Hokendauqua, 3005 Front St., will be transformed into Athens July 8-12 for vacation Bible School.

Sessions start at 5:30 p.m. with dinner and conclude at 8:30 p.m. Youth ages 3-12 are invited. Call 610-264-9693 for more information.

Several baptisms were recently held at Faith Lutheran Church, 3355 MacArthur Road.

The baptised include Emma Ann Hirth, infant daughter of Steven and Shannon (Putt) Hirth; Braydon Raymond Meckes, infant son of Ashley (Geist) Eberly; and Dominick Theodore Tagliavia, infant son of Stephen and Danielle (Renoll) Tagliavia.
