Edward F. Hobel

Edward F. Hobel, 80, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., died June 22, 2013, at Broward Hospital.

Born in Coplay, he was the son of the late Edward and Margaret (Wiessner) Hobel.

He was in the U.S. Air Force. He was a radio specialist and was a Korean War veteran.

A licensed roofing contractor, he owned Ed Hobel Roofing in Florida and, before that, Acker Roofing, Allentown.

He was a member of the Pompano, Fla., Elks. He was known to have scored perfect 300 games.

He is survived by two daughters, Kathryn Jacke of Florida and Anne Sarah Shonnard of Virginia; five grandchildren, Alicia and Lea Bornstein and Anne, C.J. and Johnny Shonnard; four sisters, Margaret Rose Nyul, Helene Ott, Jeanette Dryburgh and Barbara Smith; nieces; and nephews.

He was predeceased by a grandson, Joshua Bornstein.

There will be a Mass at 10 a.m. July 21 at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 4 S. Fifth St., Coplay.
