Borough receives $33K

The Northampton Memorial Community Center has given $33,920 to the borough of Northampton.

"As part of our rental agreement with the community center board of directors, the borough annually receives 50 percent of the bottom line profits after it has been audited," borough Manager Gene Zarayko told borough council June 20. "These monies are used to support our recreation program."

During the meeting, council was also informed a borough crew painted the office area inside the newly remodeled band shell at the municipal park. Public works personnel also removed the concrete steps and some of the foundation wall from the site of the farmers market on Main Street. A tree growing at the back of the property was removed as well.

Permission was granted to the Northampton Area Chamber of Commerce to hold its annual street fair Saturday, Sept. 14, on Main Street from 18th to 21st streets.

Pool sales are off to a slow start this summer because of the weather, according to Zarayko. So far pool income has tallied $18,792.
