Police to conduct DUI checkpoint
The Pennsylvania State Police will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint during the Independence Day holiday weekend.
A sobriety checkpoint is a traffic safety checkpoint where Pennsylvania State Troopers systematically stop vehicles at selected locations to briefly observe drivers for signs of alcohol or drug impairment, police said.
The goal of a sobriety checkpoint is to reduce the number of alcohol and drug related fatal and serious crashes, and to reduce the number of DUI drivers on Pennsylvania's highways, police said.
Disturbance
reported
State police on June 15 responded to a report of disorderly conduct.
According to police, Luis Ivan Padilla-Diaz, 22, of Bethlehem, was involved in a disturbance inside Denny's Restaurant, 1871 Catasauqua Road, Hanover Township, Lehigh County.
As Padilla-Diaz was being escorted out of the restaurant, he threw keys, eyeglasses and a handful of mulch at a security guard, police said.
Padilla-Diaz was also flailing his arms in an apparent attempt to strike the security guard.
A nontraffic citation was filed against Padilla-Diaz.
