Benjamin D. Reed, 92, of Elizabethtown, formerly of Emmaus, died June 20, 2013, in M.S. Hershey Medical Center. He was the husband of June E. (Wilkinson) Reed. Born in Sunbury, he was the son of the late Edgar and Frances (Wetzel) Reed.
He was an engineer and manager for PPL for over 30 years. After retirement, he worked as a consultant for North Cambria Fuel Company in Indiana, Pa. for 15 years.
He honorably served his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was a member of the 344th Bomb Group.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Samuel E. of Golden, Colo., Scott C. and his wife Mary Kay of Hartsel, Colo., and Frederick W. and his wife Ginger of Honey Brook; daughter, Rebecca L. of Palmyra; brothers, George of Hershey and Thomas of Lancaster; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Benjamin D. II, three brothers, James Albert, William Wetzel and John Edward; five sisters, Elsie Pauline "Sis" Bubb, June Isabelle Frits, Frances Marie "Doll" Gruber, Faye Elaine Mahoney, and Lois Anne Michaels.
