Michael R. Baron, prisoner of war

Michael R. Baron, 94, of Bethlehem, died May 31, 2013. Born in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late Joseph and Agnes (Bartos) Baron. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth (Demko) Baron and of the late Kathryn (Goida) Baron.

He was in the U.S. Army for five years. He was in the infantry in the South Pacific, where he was a prisoner of war for three years.

He retired in 1979 from the Bethlehem Steel Corporation after 33 years of service.

He was a member of Incarnation of Our Lord Parish, Bethlehem.

He was a member of American Defenders of the Bataan and Corregidor Club; Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He is survived by nieces; nephews; great-nieces; great-nephews; and many cousins.

He was predeceased by seven brothers, John, Joseph, Andrew, Francis, Stephen, Charles and William Baron; and three sisters, Anna Pribulka, Sophie Kresge and Agnes Lipsky.
