Joseph C. Garger, 83, died June 6, 2013, at the Good Shepherd Specialty Hospital, Bethlehem. He was the husband of late Gloria (Perry) Garger for 51 years.
Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Joseph F. and Frances (Sarka) Garger.
He was a 1947 graduate of Central Catholic High School, where he had been a member of the 1945 CCHS basketball team that won the PCIAA State Championship.
He earned an accounting degree from Penn State University.
He was in the U.S. Army and was a corporal during the Korean War.
He was a delivery man at Coca-Cola, an accountant for Western Electric, Laureldale, and a system programmer at PPL until his retirement in 1990.
He is survived by a son, Joseph P. and his wife Sherry (Martucci) of Kimberton; a daughter, Jane A. and her husband Michael Dolin of Whitehall; five grandchildren, Alexandra and Catherine Garger, Jonathan and Jacob Dolin and Taray Carey.
He was predeceased by a brother, Richard Garger of Allentown.
