The concern is unfounded.
The annual fireworks show in July will be held in Northampton, despite construction of the new Northampton Area Middle School and secondary campus renovations.
Northampton Area School District officials, the contractor, borough officials and the Northampton Exchange Club discussions have resulted in an agreement that the fireworks spectacular will be held as usual. The event draws thousands and celebrates the near weeklong Community Days.
The staging area for the fireworks display may have to be changed. However, spectators at the municipal park will still be offered a clear view of the aerial display. Most people seated on lawn chairs and blankets watch the fireworks from the gentle slopes in front of the band shell.
The borough's tennis courts will be affected by the middle school construction and widening of Campus Drive. The NASD tennis courts off Laubach Avenue, across from the high school and on the Col. John Siegfried Elementary School property, can be utilized by the public for tennis, provided the courts are not in use by the high school.
The basketball courts, which will also be affected by the construction project, will be relocated to another area of the municipal park.
