Robert F. Kauffman

Robert F. Kauffman, 87, of Emmaus, died June 2, 2013, in Lehigh Valley Hospital. He was the husband of the late Gertrude A. (Eroh) Kauffman. Born in Emmaus, he was the son of the late Edgar and Lucy (Moyer) Kauffman.

He was a rural carrier for the Emmaus Post Office for many years, retiring in 1987.

He was an active member of Bethel Bible Fellowship Church, where he served as a Sunday school teacher, leader of the Christian Service Brigade, member of the choir, and with the Yoke Fellows prison ministries for many years. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, earning two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Heart. He was a member of the Emmaus VFW, Lehigh Valley Veterans of Battle of the Bulge, authored a book entitled, "The Replacement" about his World War II experiences and was an active public speaker.

He is survived by sons, Richard and his wife Becky and Alan and his wife Connie; daughter, Marjorie and her husband Richard Mengel; sister, Florence and her husband Gerald Schlonecker, all of Emmaus; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, June 6, in Bethel Bible Fellowship Church, 418 Elm St., Emmaus, 18049.

Arrangements were made by the Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., Emmaus.
