Olive L. (Bruder) Smith, 97, of Ancient Oak West, Lower Macungie Township, died May 28, 2013. She was the wife of the late George Smith and moved to various places. Her later years were spent living at Bear Creek Lake where she enjoyed fun times with family and friends. Born in Emmaus, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Lizzie Bruder.

She was a 1933 graduate of Emmaus High School. She had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge of the Bible, history and current events among other things. During her time living in Carbon County, she was actively involved with V.O.I.C.E., a community action program, and started a senior citizens group while volunteering at the library.

She was a member of The Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, Emmaus.

She is survived by a daughter, Gayle Getz; son, Glenn; sister, Betty Burian; grandchildren, Valerie and her husband Charles Yost, Gary Huff, Shawn Harp, Judson Pollack, Kim Torres, Ryan, and Nicole; great-grandchildren, Tammy and her husband Art Schmidt, Charlie, Angela and Logan Yost, Arti, Tristan and Hayden Schmidt. She was predeceased by a daughter, Nancy; granddaughter, Cynthia Wells; sisters, Marguerite and Ardella; brother, Carson.
