CMS to hold recital

The Community Music School holds its Annual Gala Recital, 1 p.m. June 9, Rodale Community Room, Miller Symphony Hall, 23 N. Sixth Street, Allentown.

The recital is free and open to the public. A reception follows the recital.

Student year-end performances include, by school district or area:

Allentown School District: Peter Loikits, voice; Ashley Chila, piano; Parkland: Valmiki and Prathysha Kothare, both piano; Steven Wroge, violin; Kelly McMahan, violin; Joseph Hall, trumpet; Julia Young, piano; Kristie Budihardjo, violin;

Also, East Penn: Emmanuel DeOliveira, piano; Salisbury: Carolyn Boulay, voice; Sabrina Sizer, flute choir; Nicolette Bottoni, piano;

And, Fountain Hill: Kayleigh Ackerman, flute choir; Pennsylvania Cyber School: Erica Haas, flute choir; Home School: Teva Skovnonek, flute choir; Topton: Joseph Coco, clarinet; and Out of school, Allentown: Ian Cunningham, saxophone.

Each spring, students are recommended by their teachers to audition before an independent panel of judges. Students who receive the highest scores perform in the year-end recital. The highest-scoring students among the gala performers receive merit-based scholarships to continue lessons next year at CMS. Judges this year were Barry Holben, Corliss Bachman and Ralph Brodt.
