Dale N. Hassler and Larry Oberly convincingly secured two seats on the Allen Township board of supervisors Tuesday.
Both Hassler and Oberly won by large margins in a field of six candidates on the Democratic ballot that included incumbent supervisors Michelle G. Drzewiecki and William F.Holmes.
Election results at the Allen Township Fire Hall show Hassler with 163 ballots and Oberly 143 votes. Hassler was earlier the township's fire chief and currently has an active role with the fire company. Oberly serves on the Northampton Area Historical Society Board and as an officer with the Atlas Cement Memorial Museum.
Placing third in the unofficial vote count and out of the running was Terri Powell with 43 ballots, followed by Holmes with 27 votes, Drzewiecki with 23 votes and Gary A.Behler with 15 votes.
The voter turnout was very light despite the first time in years that a spirited and contested race for township supervisor was presented to the public.
The Northampton County Voter Registration Office on Friday will begin the official vote count of all elective races in the county. Allen Township is expected to be one of the first races to be tabulated.
