Trash cans stolen

Borough police on May 17 were called to the unit block of Chestnut Street for a report of stolen garbage cans.

Police said a neighbor observed two men in a white Ford pickup truck with a loud exhaust pull alongside the residence. One man got out of the truck and placed the trash cans into the vehicle, driving away south on Grape Alley, police said.

Man cited

Daniel Walker, 28, of 3015 S. Second St., Whitehall Township, was escorted home Friday, May 17 after Coplay police cited him with public drunkenness.

Officers responded to a call at 1:32 a.m. at a home in the unit block of North Second Street, police said.

Police were informed a man was attempting to enter the front door of the residence. The man had left the area by the time police arrived.

Using a description of the man, police found him, later identified as Walker, in the unit block of South Second Street. Walker was visibly intoxicated and did not know where he was, police said.

Copper pipe stolen

Police responded to two burglary reports at vacant houses recently.

Officers were summoned May 16 to a home in the 100 block of South Ninth Street. The back door of the home had been forced open and copper pipe in the basement had been stolen, police said.

The incident happened overnight, police said.

Another burglary report brought police to the unit block of North Fourth Street May 17.

Burglars gained entry through a rear door of the home and stole copper pipe, police said.

Both homes were vacant and are listed for sale.

Fire alarm activated

Burnt food that set off a fire alarm on Sunday in an apartment at 11 N. Front St.

The Coplay Fire Department responded and handled the situation accordingly, police said.
