John Strasser

John Strasser, 89, of Northampton, died May 11, 2013, at the VNA Hospice at St. Luke's, Lower Saucon Township. He was the husband of Gertrude (Hutterer) Strasser for 66 years.

Born in Allen Township, he was a son of the late Mathias and Mary (Bishop) Strasser.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater. He achieved the rank of aviation radioman 3/c.

He was a supervisor/manager for Tama Manufacturing, Northampton, for 35 years until he retired in 1982.

He was a member of Queenship of Mary Catholic Church, Northampton, where he was a member of the Holy Name Society.

He was a member of the American Legion Post and the Catholic War Veterans Post, both Northampton; Petersville Rod and Gun Club, Lehigh Township; and the Lappawinzo Fish and Game Protective Association, Allen Township.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Jack and his wife JoAnne of West Chester; three grandchildren, Jacquelyn, John III and Joseph; and two great-grandchildren, Nolan and Broden.

He was predeceased by a son, Dennis "Otto".

A Mass of Christian Burial is set for 10:30 a.m. May 16 at the church, 1324 Newport Ave., Northampton. Calling hours are 9-10 a.m.

Contributions may be made to the church.
