Daniel Dixon Jr., 73, of Bethlehem, died March 16, 2013, after a long illness. Born in Wilmington, Del., he was a son of the late Daniel and Leona Dixon.He was the husband of Joan E. (Murphy) Dixon for 48 years.

He was a 1957 graduate of Chester High School, Chester. He graduated with honors from Pennsylvania Military College. He earned a master's degree in Civil Engineering from Lehigh University.

He was in the U. S. Army, specializing in chemical and biological warfare at Fort Campbell, Ky.

He was employed in the fabricated steel construction division of the Bethlehem Steel Company and later at Hanover Engineering and Associates.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Fountain Hill, where he was a Sunday school superintendant and head coach of the church youth basketball team for 19 years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Daniel R. of Allentown; a brother, Phillip W. Dixon of Taylors, S.C.; and two nephews, Phillip and Paul Dixon.
