J. Richard Sheirer, 83, of Whitehall, died Feb. 14, 2013, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Allentown. He was the husband of Edith Mae "Jean" (Schlegel) Sheirer.

Born in Hokendauqua, he was a son of the late Joseph W. and Agnes M. (Gross) Sheirer.

He was in the U.S. Navy and was in the Korean War.

He was a buyer at Fuller Company, Catasauqua.

He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Hokendauqua.

He was a lifetime member of the Fullerton Fire Company and the Hokendauqua American Legion Post 739.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Carol Mae and her husband John Sauerzopf of Egypt; a sister, Mae A. and her husband Al Hart of Allentown; two grandsons, Brad and his wife Maria Sauerzopf and Ross Sauerzopf, all of Whitehall; and a great-grandson, Max.
