Roy Stewart, familiar to many as the township engineer for all four Northwestern municipalities, introduced his new wife at the February meeting of Lowhill supervisors.
He and Clydia Bolton Stewart, a resident of Charlotte, N.C., met on ChristianMingle, an online dating service, about a year and a half before they married last July.
Since then, they have been traveling back and forth to spend time together at their respective homes.
The Stewarts talked about how they communicated by email, then by phone, after meeting online.
"I couldn't believe how he sounded when I heard him on the phone, and he couldn't believe how I sounded," Clydia said.
Sharing a common faith, the two attended a retreat after they met, and also took a pre-marital course.
For now, they spend time together mainly around holidays and church events.
When Roy retires in two years, he plans on moving to Charlotte full time, where he and Clydia will be involved in mission work.
He enjoys his time in Charlotte, while Clydia likes visiting Pennsylvania.
"It's 55 degrees down there now," said Roy, as it was snowing in the Lehigh Valley.
Clydia commented that Charlotte has been rated one of the 20 most attractive cities in the U.S.
The new bride added she has always liked anyone she met down there who was from Pennsylvania.
