Jack L. E. Welliver

Jack L. E. Welliver, 80, of the village of Egypt in Whitehall Township, died Feb. 4, 2013, at Lehigh Valley Hospital Center, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of Loretta M. (Semmel) Welliver for 59 years.

Born in Easton, he was a son of the late Cledis D. and Bernadine R. (Schaffer) Welliver.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War era.

He was a receiver for Hess' distribution center, Whitehall, for 12 years. He then worked for Sears' replenishment department for 12 years until retiring in 2004.

He was a member of Egypt Community Church, Whitehall, where he was a trustee, elder, head deacon, Sunday school superintendent, Christian education chairperson and senior choir member. He was a former bell choir member.

He was a former assistant Scoutmaster for the church's Boy Scout and Explorer troops from 1967 to 1973. He was a member of the American Legion Post 732, Bernville.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Jean M. Blocker of Whitehall; a son, Keith and his wife Leanna of Whitehall; a brother, Eugene and his wife Joyce Welliver of Orefield; three sisters, Joyce C. Smith of Danielsville, Shirley A. Rothenberger of Bath, and Beverly Shaner of Stafford, Va.; and two grandsons, Cory Blocker and Nathan Welliver.
