Richard M. Diefenderfer, 89, of Northampton, died Jan. 25, 2013, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg, Bethlehem. He was the husband of Muriel C. (McCafferty) Diefenderfer for 67 years.
Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Roy and Helen (Schreiber) Diefenderfer.
He was in the U.S. Navy and was a storekeeper first class during World War II.
He, along with his wife, owned and was a proprietor of the Bath Hotel for 45 years until he retired in 2005.
He was a member of the Tavern Association, a life member of the Bath American Legion Post 470 and a former member of the Republican Club, Bath. He was a member of both the Keystone and the East Bath rod and gun clubs.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Sharon and her husband Guy Tamandl of Bath; three grandchildren, John R. Briele, Deborah George and Donna Pavlick; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
