Swimmers get sweep of Pocono West

The Northampton swim team swept Pocono Mountain West. The girls won 102-66 while the boys won a close, 85-79 match.

Rachel Pursell and Emma Steirer each took home two victories to lead the way for the Kids. Pursell won the 200 free in 2:10.75 and the 500 free in 5:38.84. Steirer won the 200 IM in 2:34.85 and the 100 back in 1:09.58.

Other winners for the girls were Paige Knouse, Madison Bernal and Kaitlin Nemes. Knouse won the 50 free in 27.62, Bernal took the 100 fly in 1:05.61 and Nemes won the 100 free in 1:06.75.

All three girls relay teams also won. The 200 medley team of Steirer, Annalise Christy, Bernal and Hannah Peters had a time of 2:12.82. The 200 free team of Knouse, Bernal, Pursell and Nemes won their race in 1:54.27 and the 400 free team of Steirer, Pursell, Knouse and Nemes won in 4:17.86.

On the boys side, Joey Szerencsits was the only double winner for NHS. He won the 200 free in 2:03.60 and the 500 free in 5:38.05.

Cory Ninos, Kyle Iasiello and Nick Pavlacka also won events for the Kids. Ninos won the 50 free in 24.73, Iasiello the 100 free in 55.77, and Pavlacka the 100 back in 1:03.06.

Two of the three relays teams also posted victories. The 200 free relay team of Ninos, Iasiello, Ben Longacre and Szerencsits won in 1:43.14 and the 400 free won the final event in 3:44.12. That team was made up of Ninos, Iasiello, Szerencsits and Pavlacka.
