Herbert E. Long, 87, of Fellowship Community, died Dec. 30, 2012, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of Elayne M. (Romig) Long for 61 years.

Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Herbert F. and Eva S. (Bodman) Long.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran and served during World War II.

He was a foreman and machinist at Ingersoll Rand for 42 years until he retired.

He was of the Lutheran faith.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, John H. and his wife Carol of North Whitehall; a daughter, Brenda J. and her husband Allan Witkus of Orwigsburg; a sister, Rev. Nancy Althouse of Allentown; three grandchildren, Courtney, Brandon and Kristi; and a great-grandson, Anthony.
