Various items from the closed King George Inn, Cedar Crest and Hamilton boulevards, South Whitehall Township, were auctioned off Dec. 17.
Ovens, tables, chairs, flatware and china went out for bid from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.
After 3 p.m., antiques and collectables, which adorned the restaurant throughout its history were auctioned.
The one dining room was filled to capacity with bidders overflowing into the adjoining dining room.
Around 6:30 p.m., bidders, auctioneers and visitors were forced to evacuate the building when an odor of natural gas was detected.
With the arrival of South Whitehall Township firefighters, it was determined the gas leak was coming from the connection where the old hot water heater had been removed.
UGI was called to verify the incoming gas was disconnected.
The remaining items were to be auctioned off Dec. 21.
