Ashley Yanek, a former Konkrete Kid, was a defensive back who just completed her senior season at Rutgers University where she was co-captain of the field hockey team.
She earned playing time throughout her career, despite a few injuries. This past year, she started in every game except one, which she sat out due to a concussion.
Some of her key accomplishments during her career include: demonstrating senior leadership as co-captain of the team from 2012-2013; she was named a member of the Big East All-Academic team in her freshman, sophomore and junior seasons (this year's team hasn't been released yet). She was a member of the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I National Academic Squad in 2010 and 2011 (this year not announced yet).
Yanek was inducted into the National College Athlete Honor Society, Chi Alpha Sigma back on Oct. 12 during the halftime of the Rutgers-Syracuse football game.
Upon graduation, she will be attending graduate school at Rutgers, working on her masters in education.
