Lynn Twp. supervisors name replacements for Deppe

Lynn Township supervisors accepted Kevin Deppe's Nov. 13 resignation at a special codification meeting Dec. 5.

He was township manager, zoning officer and held responsibility for other positions.

Deppe's salary was split in the budget between the engineer, Roy Stewart, and Solicitor Marc Fisher.

Keystone Consulting Engineers was named zoning officer until the reorganization.

Supervisor Brian Dietrich said the township is not busy just now and there would be time to discuss the position for the coming year.

Deppe was the alternate treasurer, so that position will need to be filled.

He was also the open records officer.

Janet Henritzy was appointed to finish the year with Secretary Tammy White as alternate.

Henritzy did most of the research for open records requests and so has experience.

Board meetings will continue to be held 6:30 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month.

Supervisors decided that due to a tight budget, the reorganization dinner will be canceled.

Dietrich said the annual dinner tradition was a good way for volunteers and employees to get to know each other, but Supervisor Justin Smith said if the budget is being cut, the dinner should be, too.

There was discussion about changing the transfer station hours to 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. in summer and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in winter. It is now 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dietrich proposed 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. all year. White said it has to be discussed with the people who work there.

In other business, recreation fees will remain at $3,000 per lot but still to be decided is when the fee should be paid.

Supervisors will also be looking at the fees paid for businesses. Stewart will obtain information how other townships are handling the fees.

Dietrich wants the information to review before any action is taken by the board.

Work was done on the ordinance codification project, but much was at a standstill because Deppe had promised to provide information.

Stewart said he and Deppe were working on parking and loading requirements. He said supervisors had to be sure all uses are defined.

Deppe was to have incorporated other townships' sign ordinances into Lynn's.

Smith said he has some older documents he wants to compare to the new ones.

Stewart said there should be a list of items being changed. He will work with White to show the changes.

Stewart said he would need January to get the work done.

The issue will be discussed at the February meeting.

Codemaster will work with only one inspection agency or building codes official.

Barry Isett Associates was appointed to the end of the year.

A permanent inspector will be named at reorganization.
