Richard "Dick" J. Berner, 76, of Whitehall, died Nov. 28, 2012, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. He was the husband of Constance M. (Lukish) Berner for 53 years.

Born in Coplay, he was a son of the late Louis and Theresa (Nickischer) Berner.

He graduated with a bachelor's degree from Moravian College in 1958. He earned a master's degree from Lehigh University.

He taught in Lower Saucon School District for 10 years and was the director of guidance at Whitehall High School for 31 years.

He was a member of and an usher at St. Andrew's Roman Catholic Church, North Catasauqua.

He was involved in PIAA track and field. He was a member of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame.

He was a member of the Coplay-Whitehall Sewer Authority.

In addition to his wife; he is survived by a son, Mark and his wife Robyn of Whitehall; a daughter, Marcy and her husband Kevin Turkovich of Pittsburgh; three grandchildren, Megan Berner of Whitehall and Luke and Mark Turkovich of Pittsburgh; and a brother, Alfred Berner of Whitehall.

He was predeceased by four brothers and four sisters.
