Richard H. Carls, 78, of Fogelsville, died Dec. 1, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital and Health Network, Bethlehem. He was the husband of Patricia (Keller) Carls for 51 years.
Born in Wescoesville, he was a son of the late John and Arlene (Bieber) Carls.
He was in the U.S. Army.
He was a Meridian Bank branch manager for 36 years before retiring. He then became a loan officer with East Penn Bank at the Emmaus branch. He and his family ran C&M Lawn Service for 27 years.
He was a member of the former Seibert E.C. Church, Allentown, where he was a treasurer and board member. He played softball for the church team.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Gayle D. and her husband Jeffrey Yastrop of Palmerton, Diane L. and her husband Steve Howell of Manassas, Va., and Kristen B. of Fogelsville; a sister, Lina O'Brien-West and her husband George West of Allentown; a brother, Theodore B. and his wife Deborah Carls of Northville, Mich.; a sister-in-law, Nancy Carls of Allentown; a granddaughter, Makenna Howell, four nieces; and five nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, William Carls.
