The Upper Lehigh Lions Club inaugurates its new breakfast season with a special visit from Santa Claus 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Dec. 9 at the Schnecksville Fire Hall.

Children are invited to have their pictures taken with Santa. Those who are under age 6 eat for free.

The all-you-can-eat meal includes pancakes, sausage, ham, scrambled eggs, homefries and beverages.

Upper Lehigh Historical Society will have a sale of holiday cookies and clear toy candy at the Schneck Log House noon on Dec. 16.

The candy will be made by member Suzanne Wainwright-Evans in historic molds of many interesting shapes.

Because of Hurricane Sandy, the special presentation by David Adam on Pa. Dutch vocabulary was canceled.

The presentation will be re-scheduled next year.

The historical society is in great need of volunteers to help with fundraisers and projects to keep the Schneck House going.

Recently, the organization had a costly siding repair job. Attention also needs to be given next to deteriorating window sills.

St. John's United Church of Christ, 1415 Rising Sun Road, Laurys Station, has a new cookbook available just in time for holiday gift-giving.

As the church celebrates its 140th anniversary, the cookbook with favorite recipes, is a reminder of the sweet memories of family and friends, the celebration of all our blessings, and the joyful anticipation of children and the future.

The cookbook, "Recipes and Remembrances," includes recipes shared not only by those at St. John's but also the Laurys Station community.

The youth group at St. John's is having its annual Christmas candy sale.

Choices include milk and dark chocolate peanuts, raisins, pretzel logs, jingles, lollipops and walnut bark.

Some items are available in white chocolate and in mixed varieties.

The children of St. John's UCC will present a musical progam, "Christmas Letters," on Dec. 8.

The evening begins at 5:30 p.m. with a potluck dinner and fellowship. The show starts 7 p.m. and is followed by a time for dessert in the social hall.

The program tells the story of Jesus through imaginary letters written by people who were present at the very first Christmas.

The musical has several original songs the children will perform.

The Parkland High School Chorale, under the direction of Frank Anonia, will perform at Union United Church of Christ, Neffs, 7 p.m. Dec. 9. The public is invited.

Refreshments will be served in fellowship hall after the program.

The children's choirs and Sunday School classes will present, "It Wouldn't Be Christmas Without" 10:30 a.m. Dec. 16 during the worship service.
