John "Jack" J. McCarty, 89, of Catasauqua, died Nov. 29, 2012, in Whitehall Manor, Whitehall.
Born in Catasauqua, he was a son of the late Charles and Ellen (Reagan) McCarty.
He was a 1941 graduate of Allentown Central Catholic High School.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He retired from the Catasauqua post office on May 30, 1978. He was a partner in McCarty's Farmer Hotel, Catasauqua.
He was a member of St. Lawrence the Martyr Catholic Church, Catasauqua.
He was a 39-year member of the Catasauqua American Legion Post 215. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is survived by a nephew, John (Sam) and his wife Nancy McCarty; two nieces, Margaret McCarty and Kathleen and her husband Joseph Billie; two great-nephews, Juddson and his wife Melissa Billie and Patrick and his wife Margy McCarty; three great-nieces, Erin and her husband Jeremiah Light, Katie and her husband Thomas Titano and Meaghan and her husband Jason Buck; two great great-nephews, Dominic Titano and Gavin Light; and three great-great-nieces, Kendall Billie, Shannon Light and Sophia Titano.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Francis and Charles McCarty; and a sister-in-law, Margaret S. McCarty.
