PASR serves community through volunteerism

Joan Failla, president of the Lehigh Chapter of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees, recently presented a mock check to Lehigh County commissioners.

The $3,722,619 "check" represents the amount of money Lehigh County PASR school retiree members saved local communities through their donated time to charitable, educational, political and religious organizations in 2011.

Failla said retired public school employees are some of the most active, involved people in their hometown communities.

Throughout their years of active service, they dedicated themselves to helping others.

PASR's mission continues to stress volunteer service to others in need.
