Margaret Strassburger McCarty, 91, of Catasauqua, died Nov. 12, 2012, at her residence. She was the wife of the late Charles "Keck" J. McCarty Jr.
Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Nicholas and Ursula (Zepf) Strassburger.
She was a member of the WAAC and WAC during World War II.
She and her late husband owned and operated McCarty's Farmer's Hotel, Catasauqua.
She was a member of St. Lawrence the Martyr Roman Catholic Church, North Catasauqua, and of its Altar and Rosary Guild.
She was a former Girl Scout leader and 65-year member of the American Legion Post 215.
She is survived by three children, Margaret, Kathleen and her husband Joseph Billie and John (Sam) and his wife Nancy; a brother-in-law, John "Jack" McCarty; five grandchildren, Erin and her husband Jeremiah Light, Katie and her husband Thomas Titano, Juddson and his wife Melissa Billie, Patrick and his wife Margy Billie and Meaghan and her husband Jason Buck; five great-grandchildren, Shannon and Gavin Light, Dominic and Sophie Titano and Kendall Billie; a niece, Mary Schultz; and three nephews, Jerome, Joseph and William Sullivan.
